What is a healthy weight?

There are several ways of figuring out whether you are in a healthy weight range or not:15

  • BMI (Body Mass Index): You have probably heard of BMI before. It is a simple and easy method that is based on the combination of your height with body weight. Use the ManUp BMI tracker (click here), to check whether you're in a healthy weight range or not. BMI works pretty well, however if you're extremely muscular it might tell you that you are overweight when you are not, but it's still a good guide to use because you still want to try and be in the healthy range.
  • Waist circumference: Measuring your waist is a good alternative if you think that you are too muscular to trust a BMI measure, it is very accurate. If your waist circumference is over 94 cm you are too heavy and at a higher risk for chronic diseases. The 'MeasureUp' website will give you lots of more info about this method, but to get you started: your waist is between your bottom rib and the top of your hip, more or less in line with your belly button.
